SPIELBURGER, HAMPSTEAD

Whilst we were mooching around Hampstead the other day we came across Spielburger which is located just opposite (kinda) from Hampstead underground station. Finding a burger place in London is certainly no hard task at the minute (after finding a Pret, obviously!) which is possibly why this burger place was a little empty for a warm Saturday afternoon, or the people of Hampstead are just not interested? Actually, I think it's fairly new so maybe the big burger klaxon hasn't been sounded yet. I'm not sure if Spielburger stands out with the rest of the well known burger places (I think I'm just saying that though because I've become immune to their pulled pork ways, it used to win me over everytime but I got wise!) but it was tasty and definitely worth a visit if you're in the area. The burger reminded me a lot of the ones they serve at The Diner which are the best hangover burgers and to be fair I did inhale it in about 1 minute flat. I guess I'd have to go again to truly make up my mind... The only thing that does annoy me though is that they never come with chips and you can't have a burger without chips can you? And then the chips cost about 3 quid for a fashionable cup full so we end up sharing because we're too tight and that NEVER works out and I sulk because I was too flipping slow to get the last one #burgerproblems

I'd like to give you a link so you can scope it out but I can't seem to find one, sorry!

A WANDER AROUND HAMPSTEAD

When we first moved to London four years ago we visited Hampstead to have a nosey around at how the other half live and I remember being so poor (after having shelled out SO much money on rent) that every café and shop window I looked in depressed me so much more then I thought it would. Even though we're still shelling out a ridiculous amount of rent we decided to go back to Hampstead to have another look and it is just as beautiful as I remember and I'm slightly annoyed at myself for not having being back sooner. So quaint and English and filled with beautiful shops, houses and streets, Hampstead really is the perfect balance between city living and having a cottage in a village and I am so insanely jealous of anyone who gets to live here. We had a really lovely time wandering around all the shops, visiting the Heath and enjoying the sun-less warm weather - quite the common occurrence at the minute! Walking around Hampstead Heath is a really great day out too, there's so much to it - including the bathing ponds and plenty of places for a picnic. I wish we had a dog for lovely days out like these!

VIDEO: A QUIET BANK HOLDAY MONDAY

Yesterday was pretty miserable and wet outside (of course, it was a bank holiday!) so I took the opportunity to get to grips with some new software I've got - (Adobe Premier) and make a video. I haven't made one since Christmas so thought it was about time and it's always good learning new things.

The video is of my slow and steady Bank Holiday Monday, Steven went to work so I pottered around the house, made some eggs and did some bits on the computer. Then we ate popcorn and watched TV (Marooned with Ed Stafford, SO good!) when he got home.

Hope you had a good one too!

BLOGGERS AT THEIR DESKS: ANNIE + KATIE

Annie
Katie

I've known Annie (top photo) for a little while from the blogging world and was so pleased when she agreed to take part in my series, her space is so beautifully filled with light and being a long term renter I'm very jealous of her teal coloured walls. Having a sewing machine and stationary all to hand is the dream too right?! Whilst I was at Annie's house I got to meet her sister Katie who writes a great blog and has inspired me to watch a few films that have been on my list for a while - mainly the Fargo one which I loved just as much as the series that's on at the minute.

I've shot a few bloggers at their desks now and have been really enjoying seeing all their spaces and getting to know new people - and I always come away feeling very inspired. I feel it's starting to gain a bit of weight this little project of mine.

HOLIDAYING IN LONDON

The morning we arrived back in London after our trip to Linton we dumped our bags, grabbed our Oyster cards and headed straight back out the door to bask in some glorious London sunshine. The one thing that has to be done when you're not at work on a weekday is to go to Franco Manca for some of the best pizza in London (in my very honest opinion...). We were seated straight away (!!), outside too, for maximum 'on holiday' vibes - the jumpers were off, the jumpers were back on again but we smiled through gritted teeth and waited oh so impatiently for our food.

For the first time in the 6+ years we have been together, we ordered sensibly (well, for us). After all it was only lunch time so a pizza (number 2 if you're curious) a garlic bread and a side salad all to share was ordered and we finished our last bite feeling comfortably full but still wanting more because it tasted so flipping good! The last few times I've been to Franco Manca I've had a whole pizza to myself and always feel so.full. afterwards - to the point where I'm questioning if I'm ever going to go back because I can't face to look at another sour dough base again but I think we have cracked it - less is more (or more of less is more?). Who knows! - I'd like to add that the bill only came to £11.65 too, what a steal!

With full bellies we walked up the busy streets and made our way to Regents Park which was really showing off it's best side. The flowers this time of year are unbelievable, we strolled around taking pictures and settled on a nice patch of grass for an afternoon nap until it got too breezy to head home.

This year we reluctantly decided that we wouldn't be having a summer holiday abroad but instead we would stay here in this lovely country of ours and make the most of what it has to offer (save money).
Oh man were we praying for some good weather so we didn't regret not going for the all-inclusive-swimming-pool-week-in-the sun-cocktails-all-day kind of holiday. We've just had our first week off for the year and it's safe to say we had some bloody good weather (and some rain for the first half but we don't need to mention that so much...)
We took ourselves off to a little village in Cambridgeshire called Linton for a couple of nights where we walked down country lanes, ate loads of food and generally had a jolly good time. I won't link to the place where we stayed which we found on Airbnb because it actually had a load of damp in the cottage and we weren't overly impressed but it was really nice to get away for a short time (and Linton has a flipping good Indian restaurant which was well worth the trip). We also managed to look around Cambridge for the day which we loved and if I'm honest, I can't remember the last time I saw so much greenery. England is really look it's best at the minute, a mix of a few days heavy rain and sunshine works wonders.

BLOGGERS AT THEIR DESKS: ELLIE SMITH

Ellie

Ellie

In continuing with my Bloggers at their Desks series, Ellie Smith, a very talented photographer and dear friend kindly let me into her space to take a few photographs.
Ellie works in a shared studio which houses so many talented creatives I was instantly inspired to do more and be better. I came away desperately wanting a space like that of my own but I fear I will just watch everyone else at work and not do anything of my own!

Please do get in touch if you would like to be a part of the Bloggers at their Desks project.

Ohh lovely, lovely doughnuts, you saved my life this weekend when I was too hungover to get dressed and also after I had hotfooted my way all over London. You're the best.

Hope you had a good weekend!

A PORTRAIT OF SOPHIE LEE

Sophie Lee

A portrait of my beautiful friend, Sophie Lee
Sophie kept me company whilst Steven was away for a stag do, we only get to see each other about twice a year and we always seem to pick up from where we left off. We drank wine, ate a ridiculous amount of pasta and talked about art and love and everything in between.
